Joanne is a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University. During her studies, she specialized in providing care to the paediatric population, including those with neurologic disorders and developmental delays. During her internship at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, she worked within an interdisciplinary team to support the young patients on their journey of recovery. After completing her practical studies and training, Joanne expanded her work to young adults, adults and the geriatrics. Her services include facilitating purposeful activities, addressing mental health challenges, and working with memory care and palliative care.
Joanne believes in the culture-centred approach where the background and stories of each individual present as resources for promoting health and well-being. She also brings a music-centred approach, where creative expression is encouraged and guides the therapeutic process in sessions. Joanne primarily uses guitar, voice and piano in her music therapy work, and is classically trained on the French horn.
